Hot tub folliculitis is an infection of the hair follicles that occurs when you come into contact with certain bacteria that live in warm , wet areas . I have had some bouts with folliculitis, though, all over my legs and I would get irritated bumps on hair follicles and they would definitely be red and raised and then have puss in them.
Folliculitis is an infection of the hair follicles, where fungus or bacteria get inside the follicle and spread to other hair follicles, too, if scratched and irritated.

| Overview Symptoms of hot tub folliculitis can be seen within several hours to 2 days after coming into contact with the bacteria. It first appears as an itchy , bumpy , red rash.Bumps may develop into dark red , tender nodules.Bumps may become filled with pus.The rash may be thicker under swimsuit areas , where the material has held the contaminated water in contact with the skin for a longer period of time. Those who shared the hot tub may have the same rash . Thank you, A few years ago I was in a public hot tub and 2 days later I had these red pimple bumps come up all over me except my hands.
|
| Symptoms Treatment may not be needed , as the mild form of the disease usually clears on its own . Anti - itch medications may be used.In severe cases , your health care provider may prescribe an antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin . I used to have severe folliculitis on my butt too.
|
| Treatment Hot tub folliculitis is caused by the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa . Today (Saturday) I am still swollen and according to my dermatologist who I saw yesterday, I have a nasty case of folliculitis caused by the laser.
This form of bacteria survives in hot tubs , especially hot tubs made of wood , unless the water 's acid and chlorine levels are strictly controlled . I bet well water or someone's hot tub or something had something to do with it.
|
| Causes Your health care provider can usually make this diagnosis based on a physical exam and knowing you have recently been in a hot tub . Testing is usually unnecessary . |
| Tests & diagnosis This condition usually clears without scarring . It may recur if the infected hot tub is not cleaned . Folliculitis can be chronic or acute -- the hot tub incident was an acute case: you got infected by bacteria and it was easily treated.
|
| Prognosis Careful attention to controlling the acid levels and chlorine content of the hot tub may help to prevent hot tub folliculitis . We also have a hot tub that I love to sit in (non-chlorine,but other chemicals).
Me and my boyfriend had unprotected intercourse in my hot tub on the 13th of this month and I was due for my period on the 20th.
After my half-@$$ work out, I sit in a hot tub for 15 minutes or until the big, fat, hairy guy gets in.
It's up to you, but I really don't do it in the hot tub, I just get things started there, then move to higher ground for the fun
as well as a hot bath or hot tub
After finding out that hot tubs lower B/P, I will be spending more time with my g/f in the hot tub.... thanks for the input!!!
Meanwhile, here's some at-home things you can do that might help: Yes, the hot cloths and hot soaks in the tub.
I'm glad you are finding relief in the hot tub...they really are wonderful for aches and pains.

Lots of heat/heat pad, warm water pool/hot tub. I'd suggest that you start all of this while soaking in a hot bath tub of water, that'll help make things more pliable and easier to work with. Have you considered a "bath bench", one that has 2 legs and part of seat on outside of tub, has back rest, armrest on other side. That and I do use the ThermoSpa... hot tub with therapeutic jets... almost daily. ) -4-5drops of rose oil -2-3 aspirins crushed -jhonson johnson baby bubble bath -3-4 candles surrounding the tub -if u have cd player in the bathroom- some soft classical or orchestra music- whatever relaxes you |

purchased a thing called a Seal Tight to cover up the splint so I can shower without having to take a bath with my leg hanging out of the tub I soak in a hot bath or a nice hot tub. just soak, that's it. relax your legs as much as possible in water as hot as you can stand it. 2. Always have a warm bath in the form of a sitz bath or a tub bath when you have a BM. A hot compress on them seems to help my son as well as a warm bath with two bottles of hydrogen peroxide, the big ones (we have a huge bath tub) and a cup of epsom salts. This included using a hot tub, steam room and sauna and then freezing cold plunge pool. |
