Acanthosis nigricans

Acanthosis nigricans is a skin disorder characterized by dark , thick , velvety skin in body folds and creases . Insulin Resistance is generally asymptomatic for many many years before you begin to show signs, like acne or weight gain, but the one sign apparently common is Acanthosis Nigricans (dark patches in certain folds of the body).
Overview
Acanthosis nigricans usually appears slowly and does n't cause any symptoms other than skin changes.Eventually , dark , velvety skin with very visible markings and creases appears in the armpits , groin , and neck . Sometimes , the lips , palms , soles of feet , or other areas may be affected . Several months ago, I began to develop what I assume is acanthosis nigricans on the soles of my feet.
Symptoms
Because acanthosis nigricans itself usually only causes changes to the appearance of the skin , no particular treatment is needed. It is important , however , to attempt to treat any underlying medical problem that may be causing these skin changes .
Treatment
Acanthosis nigricans can affect otherwise healthy people , or it can be associated with medical problems . Some cases are genetically inherited . It is most common among people of African descent.Obesity can lead to acanthosis nigricans , as can many endocrine disorders . Six women (age range 17-38 years), who presented to the dermatology services with biopsy-proven acanthosis nigricans of variable duration were evaluated to rule out endocrine diseases. It is frequently found in people with diabetes. Some drugs , particularly hormones such as human growth hormone or oral contraceptives -LRB- " the pill " " -RRB- , can also cause acanthosis nigricans.People with lymphoma or cancers of the gastrointestinal or genitourinary tracts can also develop severe cases of acanthosis nigricans .
Causes
Your physician can usually diagnose acanthosis nigricans by simply looking at your skin . A skin biopsy may be needed in unusual cases. If no clear cause of acanthosis nigricans is obvious , it may be necessary to search for one . Your physician may order blood tests , an endoscopy , or x - rays to eliminate the possibility of diabetes or cancer as the cause .
Tests & diagnosis
Acanthosis nigricans often fades if the cause can be found and treated . Insulin Resistance, Acanthosis Nigricans) that both men &
Prognosis
Call your physician if you develop areas of thick , dark , velvety skin .

Less hunger can equal less weight and/or insulin resistance since there is a connection between weight gain and insulin resistance.
too difficult for me, maybe research it on the net insulin resistance seems to be an autoimmunity disorder, its useful for an IR diabetic to ask for a total insulin test to know their actual insulin level
The confusing part is whether PCOS is a symptom of Insulin Resistance or if Insulin Resistance is a symptom of PCOS ;-) Through some hormonal testing of her own, one woman found out that she had high copper levels.
The Glucose Tolerance Test will help determine whether you might have Diabetes Type I, Diabetes Type II, or it's precursor Insulin Resistance.
If you find out what the problem is, it is possible to control diabetes, pre-diabetes, insulin resistance via diet/exercise only for a long time and perhaps prevent becoming a true diabetic.
