[Sept 2008] TIMan welcomes 6 new members: Kavita Ganesan (Ph.D. student), Parikshit Sondhi (Ph.D. student), Samson Hauguel (MS student), Kumaresh Pattabiraman (MS student), Paul Dovydaitis (Senior undergraduate student), and Dae Hoon Park (Senior undergraduate student).

Jing Jiang has passed her Ph.D. thesis defense. Her thesis title is "Domain Adaptation in Natural Language Processing."

[Apr 2008] Hyun Duk Kim and his teammates have won the Best Use of Data Analytics and Best Web Application, as well as a split of the Most Useful prize in the 2008 Computing Habitat Programming Competition.

[Apr 2008] Azadeh Shakery has passed her Ph.D. thesis defense. Her thesis title is "Probabilistic Score Propagation in Information Retrieval."

[Feb 2008] Yue Lu has been selected to attend the 2008 Google Workshop for Women Engineers, a 3-day all-expenses paid workshop to recognize and reward deserving women students in computer science, and inspire them to become active participants and leaders in creating technology.

[Jan 2008] Xuanhui Wang has received the 2008-2009 Yahoo! Ph.D. Student Fellowship, which "recognizes outstanding graduate student researchers" who are believed to "have exceptional potential to make significant contributions and become thought leaders in their research fields." [Jan 2008] Jing Jiang has received faculty position offers from National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, and Singapore Management University. She will join Singapore Management University.

[Dec 2007] Jing Jiang has been invited to interview with all the major universities in Singapore for faculty positions, including National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, and Singapore Management University.

[Dec 2007] Manish Agrawal has received job offers from Microsoft, Yahoo, and Amazon. He will join Microsoft after graduating in Spring 2008.
