[Sept 2008] TIMan welcomes 6 new members: Kavita Ganesan (Ph.D. student), Parikshit Sondhi (Ph.D. student),
Samson Hauguel (MS student), Kumaresh Pattabiraman (MS student), Paul Dovydaitis (Senior undergraduate student), and Dae Hoon Park (Senior undergraduate student).
Highlights:
The TIMan group currently has about 18 people, mostly Ph.D. students. Since the group was founded in 2002,
10 M.S. students and 5 Ph.D. students have graduated from the group, landing on jobs in both academia and industry.
We work on a wide range of research areas, including information retrieval, text mining, natural language processing, machine learning, bioinformatics, and Web information management.
Our research has been supported by various government agencies (e.g., NSF, NIH, DHS, DOI, NASA), companies (e.g., Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, IBM), and private foundations (e.g., Alfred P. Sloan).
