CS598CXZ Poster Presentation
Description
Poster presentation is a common way for presenting research work. One important advantage of poster presentation is that there are a lot of interactions between the presenter and the audience, which often does not happen for oral presentation. The goal of the course poster presentation is two-fold: (1) To allow each of you to practice presenting a poster to your peer students. (2) To allow each of you to
practice attending a poster presentation and asking questions. I also believe that with sufficient time, you can all know enough details of a project and have an opportunity to conduct in-depth technical conversations. A presenter should aim at explaining the work as clearly as possible, while an audience should aim at understanding the work as much as possible and giving suggestions on how to further improve the work.
Making the posters
Please use this ppt template to make your poster. (Thanks to William Lee for contributing the poster template!) Please send the instructor your poster the day before your poster presentation so that the instructor can print it out and bring it to the class.
Grading
Posters will be graded by both the instructor and students. Each of you are requested to
give a grade in the scale of [1,10] to all the posters in the session
when you are an audience. So please visit every poster and evaluate each one based on
3 factors: (1) Is the project idea/problem interesting? (2) Has the team achieved interesting results?
(3) Is the poster presentation (including the slides)
well done?
